Position Summary: The Clinical Information Specialist (CIS) with the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ) ensures data integrity and provides insightful analysis on a vast patient-level repository, supporting health systems across the state. This role collaborates with health system quality and IT staff to maintain data hygiene, interpret measure specifications, and develop efficient data submission pathways.
Major Responsibilities
Data Integrity
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of data across the organization
- Perform regular reviews to maintain data standards
Vendor Collaboration
- Work with external vendors on software development and feature updates
- Support publishing and maintaining healthcare quality measurement standards that align with industry standards
Member Communication and Support
- Provide actionable information on performance to participant healthcare systems.
- Proactively Identify and recommend areas for further analysis and improvement
- Facilitate training and guidance to a variety of audiences on using analytic tools and data
Analysis and Reporting
- Deliver analyses to support strategic planning and organizational performance
- Create and maintain reports, dashboards, models, and presentations
- Summarize data for various audiences using visualization tools
- Conduct external research to enhance analytic approaches
Position Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelor's decree in a field related to health or analytics
Preferred Education: Master's degree in a field related to health or analytics
Minimum Work Experience:
- Two years’ work experience in a related professional capacity.
- Basic understanding of various clinical classification systems (ICD-9, ICD-10, RXNORM, CPT Coding, etc.).
- Experience with query tools (e.g. SQL, R, Python)
- Experience conducting analysis and data visualization with business intelligence tools like Tableau
- Experience with relational databases
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams
Preferred Work Experience:
- Three years’ work experience in data analytics, healthcare quality, or information technology with demonstrated progression in responsibility.
- Detailed understanding of various clinical classification systems (ICD-9, ICD-10, RXNORM, CPT Coding, etc.).
- Familiar with HL7 and FHIR data integrations
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Ability to understand applied statistical concepts, use descriptive statistics and comprehend inferential statistics, including skilled use of data quality and integrity measurements.
- Ability to analyze complex tasks, systems, problems and determine solutions.
- Capable of using statistical software packages
