Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting to fill a vacancy for a Nursing Supervisor. This position will be assigned to work 1st shift (7:30 am to 4:00 pm).

WRC specializes in serving adults with complex psychiatric conditions that are often combined with challenging behaviors. Position Summary

As the Nursing Supervisor, you will be responsible for the supervision and management of the Nursing Services functions of the Wisconsin Women’s Resource Center Units. You will also have unit management responsibilities for a 10-bed high management unit. Responsibilities include:

  • development, implementation, and monitoring of overall institution goals
  • NCCHC accreditation, policies, and procedures
  • treatment, security, general living conditions, and all activities within assigned sections
  • representing the institution to all outside agencies involved with the care and treatment of assigned patients
  • supervision and direction of a multi-disciplinary team.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $58.48 and $63.11 per hour (approximately between $121,600 and $131,200 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. The pay schedule and range is 50/11.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible is defined as you currently hold licensure in another state and are eligible to obtain a license in the State of Wisconsin. License in Wisconsin must be obtained by time of appointment.
  • Experience coordinating a facility/company-wide project, program or initiative which requires collaboration among diverse disciplines.
  • Experience working as an RN or serving in a leadership role performing direct patient care including directing psychiatric nursing practice and therapeutic interventions in accordance with current standards.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in the management of nursing services and as a leader in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Experience working as a nurse in a correctional or psychiatric setting, including experience with daily operations and unit management
  • Experience working as a supervisor in a clinical setting (e.g., conducting performance evaluations, resolving conflict, assigning/reviewing work of subordinates, scheduling, interviewing, or recommending hiring of staff, etc.).
  • Certified Correctional Health Professional or Psychiatric Nurse Certification.
