Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is currently recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician.
MMHI is located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility. MMHI is an inpatient psychiatric facility, with one outpatient program, specializing in serving patients with complex psychiatric conditions, often combined with certain problem behaviors. Position Summary
As a Pharmacy Technician, you are responsible for packaging, labeling, and distributing medications, drugs and pharmacy supplies to the Institution units. You will also assist with inventory recordkeeping, storage of supplies and general maintenance of pharmacy area.
Salary Information
Pay for the position is $19.92 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Pharmacy Technician – Objective and is in pay schedule and range 06/11.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI, or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include all of the following:
- Registration or eligibility to obtain registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Registration must be obtained by the start date. Please see the DSPS website for more information on registration and eligibility.
- 18 years of age by the time of appointment.
- Experience or training using a pharmacy computer system, such as Cerner, PharmNet, Epic, or similar, to conduct order entries and other pharmaceutical duties.
- Experience or training performing medical distributions or using an automated dispensing machine.
- Experience using databases and/or word processing programs.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience with inventory management and placing medication orders.
- Experience preparing cassettes for medication distribution.
- Experience working in a psychiatric setting, hospital, or healthcare setting.
