What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Wisconsin Independent Christian School?
Due to growth of the school, we are looking for additional nursing staff.
Position Reports to: Head School Nurse
Position Classification: Part-time, at-will, school year, hourly, non-exempt
Position Requirements:

RN taken a course in public health nursing required or have a BSN

Preferred experience in working with school age children, staff, parents/guardians and physicians

CPR training is required

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully and positively with parents, staff, and students in a school environment is required

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Basic computer skills such as email and data entry

Position Overview:
The school nurse advances the well being, academic success, lifelong achievement, and overall health of students.
Position Responsibilities:

Develop plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care

Provide emergency care of student illness or injury and in procedures of emergency care

Serve as a consultant with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselors

Provide health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings
-
Monitor immunizations, managing communicable diseases and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety

Oversee infection control measures

Actively participate in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at school

Oversee medication administration including medication administration training for non-licensed school personnel, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans

Make decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by state laws and professional practice guidance

Provide health advice to school educational teams such as our Assisted Learning department
Other position appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the Principal or Head of School.
