Description
Primary Function
Manages new and existing tooling specifications in order to meet customer and Wise requirements. Oversees design changes, modifications and repairs to new and existing tooling as well as incoming tooling transfers.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in new project feasibility reviews to determine requirements and costs for tooling. Works with PM to ensure all customer and internal tooling-related requirements and standards are met.
- Manages the construction of new tooling from domestic and off-shore tooling suppliers including supplier selection, obtaining quotes, conducting tool design reviews, participating in start-up trials and ensuring deliveries meet program requirements.
- Assists in the design and construction of gauges and fixtures needed with new and transfer tools.
- Oversees all design changes, modifications and repairs to new and existing tooling. Manage incoming tooling transfers.
- Audits, qualifies and monitors outside tooling suppliers for compliance to tooling standards and on-time delivery.
Additional Responsibilities
- Member of APQP team on all new product launches.
- Provides hands-on troubleshooting on shop floor as required.
- Maintains all tooling documents and documentation (drawings, tool condition, etc.)
- Provides mold flow analysis as required.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with outside tooling suppliers.
- Assists in the development and implementation of internal tooling preventive maintenance procedures
Requirements
Required Skill/Knowledge
Mold building/tool design experience. Ability to apply analytical/critical thinking in order to perform root cause analysis, highly organized with attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills with follow up. Good interpersonal skills, ability to make decisions under tight time constraints. MS Office proficiency, CAD knowledge. Fosters team work, ability participate in and lead cross-functional meetings/problem solving exercises, print reading, ability to manage multiple time sensitive projects and prioritize.
Preferred Skills/ Knowledge:
SolidWorks, ERP system familiarity, Mold Flow, manufacturing experience, IQMS, ISO standards, quoting.
Education Level / Required Certification:
BS in Engineering or equivalent education and work experience.
Additional Information:
Must have valid driver’s license and own transportation, may travel on occasion to suppliers/tool shops, must be able to use calipers, micrometers. Will have exposure to plant floor and odor of plastics, required to wear proper PPE. Lift up to 35 pounds, walk, sit, stand, crouch, reach, bend. Other duties as assigned.

Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
