This dynamic and values-driven organization is building a high-performing leadership team to scale its management capabilities and support its growing third-party management business.
Job Description
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will lead and scale the operations of the Property Management Company. This executive-level role requires deep industry expertise and leadership excellence to drive operational performance, expand third-party management, and oversee the success of both existing communities and new developments. The ideal candidate is a servant leader with strong business acumen, financial insight, and strategic foresight, committed to delivering exceptional results while fostering a positive company culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and scale the Property Management Company, ensuring operational and technical proficiency across all communities.
- Develop and grow a third party multifamily management portfolio to 15,000 units over 3-4 years.
- Implement operational best practices, maintenance programs, and training systems to drive consistency and performance.
- Oversee and optimize the use of technology platforms such as RealPage for operational efficiency.
- Analyze financial and operational metrics to inform strategy and maximize NOI and cash flow.
- Lead annual budgeting and capital planning processes in collaboration with ownership and finance teams.
- Partner with marketing and compliance teams to support reputation, branding, and regulatory adherence.
- Foster a culture of excellence through mentorship, training, and alignment with company values.
Required Experience/Skills
- 10 years in a senior executive role managing a multi-site multifamily portfolio (8,000 units).
- Proven success scaling property management operations and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong financial management skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L oversight.
- Expertise in RealPage OneSite and accounting systems.
- Experience in both conventional and affordable housing property management, for instance private facility corporation (PFC) or LIHTC transaction communities
- Strategic leadership and decision-making abilities, with excellent public speaking and relationship-building skills.
- Deep understanding of the Texas multifamily market and related compliance regulations.
Nice-to-Haves
- Real estate license preferred.
- CPM designation or equivalent.
- Background in multifamily development or construction management.
- Strong IT and data analytics knowledge to inform strategic decision-making.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field,or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant industry certifications strongly preferred.
