Your Mission?
As our Database Administrator, you’ll be the go-to expert for managing, optimizing, and securing our data infrastructure. You’ll ensure our systems run smoothly, queries are lightning-fast, and our data is both accessible and protected. In short: you’ll keep the digital engine running at peak performance while preparing us to scale.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing (and Owning from Day One):
- Maintain, monitor, and optimize SQL databases to ensure high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with DevOps, software, and infrastructure teams to implement database solutions that support application development and system reliability.
- Automate routine maintenance, backups, and failover procedures to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot database issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement long-term fixes.
- Manage user permissions, roles, and data security policies to protect sensitive information.
- Monitor performance metrics and usage trends to proactively plan for scaling and capacity.
- Ensure data integrity through regular audits, consistency checks, and disaster recovery planning.
Evaluate and implement new tools or technologies to improve database operations.
- Create and maintain documentation for database systems, procedures, and protocols.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator—bonus points for startup or high-growth environments
- Strong SQL skills and experience with database platforms like Microsoft SQL Server PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar
- Experience with performance tuning, replication, and high-availability setups
- Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, and access control
- Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools
- A proactive mindset with a focus on reliability, performance, and continuous improvement
