Job Summary
The duties of the Paramedic Supervisor encompass those outlined for a Paramedic, with the following additions:
- Responsible for assuring daily house duties are completed by staff
- Responsible for securing sufficient staff in the event of call-offs/no shows
- Accept administrative duties as assigned by the Director
- Serve as role models for co-workers
- Oversee new employee departmental orientation and precepting
- As needed, serve as interim Director in his/her absence
- Mediate solutions for inter-personnel problems
- Coordinate activities with other hospital departments
Minimum Education/License/Certification Requirements
- Have a valid Indiana Drivers License, and meet the following requirements:
- Violations: No more that 2 in the last 3 years, 1 in the last 12 months.
- Accidents: No more than 1 in the last 3 years, 0 in the last 12 months.
- Combination: No more that 1 violation and 1 accident in the last 3 years (no accident in the last 12 months).
- Must be accepted by hospital's insurance carrier.
- Must be certified in the State of Indiana as a Paramedic as defined in (836 IAC/4-9-3 16-31-2-7)
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the departments protocols/policies/procedures.
- One (1) year of pre-hospital emergency care is helpful, but not necessary.
- Must have basic computer skills.
