Job Description
This position supports the Grants and Services Program, which is responsible for annual grant competitions and coordination of the panel review process; supports development of ANA funding announcements; monitors and provide oversight of ANA's grant recipients portfolio; provide technical assistance to recipients; prepare grant amendments, and performs grant award close-out procedures. DPO also manages and coordinates activities that support the Annual Conference, other ANA divisions, the ACF Native Americans Affairs and ANA workgroups.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree.
Certification Mandatory
The Program Specialist (Non Key Personnel) positions support the Office of the Commissioner. The IT Specialist and Data Analyst work across ANA and interact with ANA’s Training and Technical Assistance providers. These personnel shall be heavily engaged in research and analysis as well as event planning and other special projects for ANA. To be successful in this position, candidates must possess executive level, professional writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to write specialized and technical reports for various audiences, including ANA, ACF, HHS, Congress, and the general public. They should also have excellent presentation skills with the ability to professionally represent ANA on committees and workgroups. They should possess state of the art information technology skills and be familiar with current business software.

- Working in Federal or State or private foundation grants administration.
- Reviewing requests for proposals for grant funding.
- Working with Native American Tribes, non-governmental organizations from Native Communities, or Pacific Islander communities.
- Preparing professional setting communications including creating memos, correspondence for public consumption and internal agency correspondence.
- Working with word processing, spreadsheet analysis, and budget analysis.
- Working in Federal grant processing and monitoring systems.
- Conducting project data analysis.
- Preparing and conducting high-level communications with Program Managers, agency leads, and political appointees; and
- Leading team members, special projects, and workgroups Knowledge Required for the Position:
- Knowledge of Native American tribes, organizations and their diverse communities, a wide-range of knowledge of theories, concepts, and principles of the social science fields to perform recurring assignments of difficulty (i.e., analyzing, researching and modifying established methods).
- Knowledge of work processes and procedures to develop new methods and criteria and recommend solutions.
- Knowledge of grants administrative and program management tasks, regulations, current events and trends.
- Knowledge to review and make recommendations to policy and programs to address grantees needs and problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various organizational levels, grant recipients, and the public.
- Ability to use information systems to process grant award actions and review electronic grant applications.
- Knowledge of current electronic office applications and ability to produce various word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. 35
