Job Description:
Wittenberg is seeking an Assistant Director for Greek Life and Student Experience. The Assistant Director will oversee the strategic direction, management and support for Greek life focusing on community growth, education, and sustainability. The Assistant Director will also oversee the management and support for student experiences that encourage belonging and engagement including, but not limited to: club sports, leadership awards, and various large-scale programs. This is a full-time, exempt-level position reporting to the Director of Student Involvement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Sorority & Fraternity community including advising Panhellenic Council and lnterfraternity Council; advising chapters; communicating Wittenberg policies and standards; liaising with chapter advisors, national organization representatives and fraternity and sorority Honor Societies; and coordinating fraternity and sorority recruitment efforts.
- Monitor fraternity and sorority risk management processes, including organization conduct and safe hosting practices (social event and alcohol registration processes); safe host alcohol policy education, training, and preventative education.
- Lead and manage the recreation and club sports program, including building and maintaining campus partnerships and managing the financial, risk/policy, educational, programmatic, and administrative elements of the program. Position club and recreation organizations to facilitate student belonging and wellbeing.
- Assist director with the creation, promotion, and execution of large-scale social programming targeting evenings, weekends, and key University-wide events including Welcome Week, Homecoming, Involvement Fair, Family Weekend, late-night breakfast/cram jam, Witt Late Night.
- With the director, lead and execute Leadership Awards annually.
- Maintain student data and records in a manner that ensures confidentiality and aides in the assessment of programs and strategies.
- Supervise student workers to meet Student Involvement needs.
- Participate in appropriate staff development opportunities, serve on campus, community, and professional association committees, appropriately keep supervisors abreast of matters sensitive in nature.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field required; Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years' related experience required.
- Experience working at a small, liberal arts institution with sorority and fraternity life and/or registered student organizations, and/or advising student groups preferred.
- Experience planning and executing large-scale campus programming preferred.
- Experience with student engagement software preferred.
- Excellent customer service, time management and communication skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of constituents, solve problems quickly and professionally, anticipate needs, and communicate proactively.
- Demonstrated success on a team.
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with key constituents.
- Strong written, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Belief in the fundamental value of a residential, liberal arts education and its application to life after college.
- Ability to work nights and weekends; some travel is required (<10% of time).
- Ability to transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date.
