Job Description:
Wittenberg University is inviting applications for a Student Accounts Manager in the Business Services office. This position is responsible for overall management, coordination and monitoring of all University student accounts receivables. The Manager will participate in the recommendation and development of operational policies and procedures in support of the Student Accounts department. This is a full-time, exempt (salary) position, reporting to the Associate Vice President of Administration.


Essential functions include but are not limited to:
  • Plan, direct and oversee student accounts operations.
  • Provide guidance and participates in the decision-making process regarding policy and procedures for accounts receivable operations.
  • Develop and coordinate requests to improve efficiencies within student accounts operations.
  • Resolve escalated customer service relations as it pertains to student account activities.
  • Serve on committees and implementation teams for student accounts-related issues.
  • Assists in writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Identify, build and enhance business relationships with other campus entities/individuals.
  • Oversee daily cash and banking activities (balance reporting, maintenance of accounts, etc.)
  • Oversee the development, management, and production of all 1098-T tax reporting.
  • Direct financial system schedules for billing, reports, and monthly/annual closing purposes.
  • Supervise, manage performance of, and provide internal training and development for all student account personnel.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and families regarding student financial matters.
  • Manage all communication/relationships with third-party service providers for day-to-day activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate developments and implementation of a seamless student accounts module within the various university systems.
  • Hire and manage student employees and other support staff specific to student accounts.


Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.


Requirements:
Requirements include:
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience in accounts receivable or student accounts) is required.
  • At least 2-4 years of relevant experience required.
  • Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office software, specifically advanced proficiency in the use of Excel (using Formula and Data tabs and their associated tools), and basic proficiency with Word and PowerPoint. Ability and desire to learn additional software applications preferred.
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague or other payment processor system and accounting software required.
  • Experience supervising college student and/or non-exempt employees.
  • Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • High degree of accuracy; initiative and adaptability; attention to detail; strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Work outside of normal business hours may be required to complete responsibilities.
  • Technical skills, critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills are crucial to the success of this position.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude is necessary for a productive and efficient work environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication with various constituents/groups is necessary in order to be successful in role.
  • Ability to use computer and phone for more than half of the workday.
  • Work in a typical office environment with the ability to adapt to different meeting spaces as needed to perform essential duties of position.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and ever-changing priorities.
