Summary:

As our Medical Assistant, you are the first point of clinical contact that our patients receive when visiting our practice, and we don’t take that role lightly! You will play a vital role responsible for performing both clinical and administrative areas including assisting the physician and RN with patient care, managing clerical and organizational tasks, and communicating information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from our clinic's services.

As a patient-paid member practice, our patients invest money to be with us and thus have higher expectations surrounding their care. Providing a superior patient experience is our goal, and prospective employees must be on board with that mission.

Medical Specialty: Internal Medicine
Work Schedule: Full-Time Days, Monday - Friday. 7:15 AM - 4:00 PM (Hours and lunch break times may vary with the occasional longer day being necessary to care for patients.)
Work Remotely: No.
Compensation: Exempt/salaried position starting at $40,000. Advancement in pay based on commitment and longevity of service.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification (Required)
  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • EMR systems: 3 years (Strongly Preferred)
  • Vital signs: 3 years (Preferred)
  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • Willingness to have a background check. (Required)

Requirements:

  • Certified Medical Assistant License
  • This is a drug, smoking, vaping, marijuana-free environment. At no time will substance use be tolerated that influences professional responsibilities during work hours.
  • COVID-19 vaccination with Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. (Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccination is not acceptable.)
  • Provide (2) previous employer references.
  • Evidence of most recent employment and job responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction and supervision of the physician and/or nurse, assists with the following:

Clinical:

  • Perform mulitple daily, structured MDVIP Pre-Wellness evaluation and testing
  • Obtain vital signs and brief intake for patient visits.
  • Strong ability to draw blood -- skilled phlebotomist needed!
  • Monitoring and communicating changes in patient condition to MD or RN
  • Documenting patient care given.
  • Medication and vaccine administration IM or SQ.

Performing basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection such as, but not limited to:

  • Drawing blood and processing for labs
  • Urine analysis
  • Injections
  • EKG
  • Other diagnostics functions as needed
  • Scheduling outpatient radiology and diagnostic procedures at various local diagnostic facilities.
  • Facilitating medical and surgical referrals as needed.

Environmental:

  • Maintains medical equipment and medical supplies
  • Inventory tracking, reordering, stocking, and cleaning
  • Troubleshooting usage of diagnostic tools
  • Cleaning and maintaining examination rooms and patient care areas

Administrative:

  • Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration as needed.
  • Medical supply inventory, ordering, tracking, receiving, and organization.
  • Phone triage and call-back with refills and testing information as needed. (At times we experience heavy patient phone call volume with the delegation of call importance provided by the RN.)
  • Assists in on-call in-office or remote work while MD is away and the office is closed to keep patient care running smoothly. (This is a rotating and team effort by all staff.)

Other Performance & Skill Requirements:

  • Within the scope of the position, this job requires critical and independent thinking skills, decisive judgment, solid communication, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions as well as project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Must have adequate knowledge of EHR systems, athenaHealth preferred.
  • Must be BCLS certified.
  • Must have experience working in the healthcare field and basic medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
  • Must be willing to pitch and assist the RN, MD, and front desk as needed.

Education Required:

  • Certified Medical Assistant License
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical office assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of three years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.

Compensation:
Pay: Starting at $38,000-40,000. Quick advancement in pay based on commitment and longevity of service.
