I. Job Summary

Internship Program at WM

Our Internship Program at WM is a paid program focused on supporting your education with experiential learning. As a WM Intern, you will interact with and conduct various duties and responsibilities for one or more functional teams to develop new skills and learn new areas of the business. Interns gain practical experience, relevant to their field of study, prior to college graduation. In addition, interns are given the opportunity to network with business leaders and receive mentorship throughout the program.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vendor Relations Supervisor/Manager, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of repairs process. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Here is a summary of repair duties and responsibilities:

  • Receives customer requests and coordinates vendors for completion of repairs or equipment requests.
  • Records all incoming issues in designated system(s) and follow up with vendors and clients to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Addresses day-to-day issues related to the Vendor and works with internal partners to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Review and submission of quotes and information received from vendors to determine next steps, coordinating, or ordering of parts, and other trash management needs.
  • Utilizes systems to check for accuracy on work orders entered to ensure they are processed efficiently, and data is correct for reporting and billing purposes.
  • Monitor Team email and systems for new or escalated requests and to assist with coverage.
  • Maintain orders in assigned territory to meet individual/team metrics and ensure accuracy. Assist in other areas when needed.
  • Reviews and analyzes processes and procedures to identify needs and provide recommendations with high emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Support the WMCS warranty program. Track warranty claims & assist in follow through warranty claims and track cost associated/avoided by pursing warranty.
  • Participates in special projects or assist in other duties as needed
  • Must understand Microsoft Excel environment.
  • All candidates MUST possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Continuous updates to customers and systems timely and accurately.

This job has no supervisory duties.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Must live and work in the US.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Interns must have a High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and be currently enrolled in college courses.
  • Experience: No prior work experience required.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • Must be available to participate in the internship program from start January 2025 to May 2025.
  • This is a part time intern position and candidate must be available to work minimum of 20 hours per week/standard working hours during the school semester.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a college student and in the Spring of 2025.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • None required.

Normal setting for this job will be remote and individual will be required to come into the office occasionally or to support business needs.


The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $16.35-$18.70. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
