This position is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact in Western North Carolina. By supporting rural community centers that bring neighbors together, build resilience, and provide access to essential resources, you'll play a key part in strengthening the social, economic, and environmental fabric of our region. In this role, you will support programs that help these centers operate more effectively and expand their impact, thereby helping WNC Communities fulfill its mission of empowering and sustaining vibrant mountain communities.
This new support position is housed in our Community Programs area, which serves over 70 community centers across 18 counties of Western NC with educational programs, grants, planning, celebrations, and networks that enable the spread of best practices. You'll be responsible for general administrative tasks, coordinating the annual WNC Honors Awards, managing event logistics, applications, and outreach while supporting key programs like the WNC Honors Program and the Emergency Readiness Network. Other responsibilities include editing and posting videos, creating web-based stories and promotional materials, conducting research, maintaining program records, and crafting clear, engaging communications to promote events and initiatives.
To do this well, this position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete tasks efficiently and with a positive, team-oriented attitude. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are key, along with the ability to take initiative, implement feedback, and work independently.

Key responsibilities include:
· Assists the Community Programs Manager with key programs such as the WNC Honors Program and the Emergency Readiness Network.
· Coordinates the annual WNC Honors Awards event, including logistics, applications, invitations, registration, venue coordination, award preparation, and post-event communications.
· Creates promotional materials and web-based stories to inspire and inform our communities.
· Assists with video editing, posting, and content management.
· Manages data entry, organizes program records, and conducts research.
