JOB SUMMARY:
The Pre-Award Grants Coordinator will collaborate with the Provost’s Office to develop and oversee a coordinated process for grant application management and grant budget development. The ideal candidate will support faculty in identifying relevant grant opportunities, making connections with collaborators, and developing and submitting successful research funding proposals with regional and state agencies, the federal government, nonprofit grantors, and foundations. They will train faculty on the use of a grant management system and work as a liaison with the Controller and the Finance Office to expedite review and approval of grant budgets going through the internal budget approval process and to answer questions about proposals after grants have been awarded.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Organize and coordinate strategic grant seeking efforts.

2.      Serve as the primary institutional pre-awards person.

3.      Support the College-level grant staff, as needed.

4.      Serve as an advisor to faculty, staff, and administrators at the institution, helping to analyze grant opportunities, train faculty on the grants management system, and facilitate the development of grant proposals, including budgets.

5.      Help to implement and maintain a grant management system to summarize and administer grant proposals

6.      Maintain the institution's Faculty Grants webpage, ensuring that it contains relevant resources and links to grant-related forms.

7.      Work with Marketing to promote internal and external communications for any grants that do get awarded.

8.      Submit an annual written report to the Associate Provost outlining grant management endeavors and other specialized grant reports as requested.

9.      Promote a grants culture of collaboration and professionalism.

10.  Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.


ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


1.      General knowledge of research administration, federal and state funding agencies, and regulations related to compliance and conduct of university-based research.

2.      Ability to coordinate meetings, prepare professional correspondence, and use computer software programs including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other software platforms.

3.      Ability to analyze written material to determine the suitability of funding opportunities.

4.      Ability to collaborate effectively with others from various departments around campus, including faculty, administrators, and staff, and build strategic relationships.

5.      Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with a variety of audiences, including University administrators, faculty, staff, federal and state agencies, industry representatives, and other individuals interacting with the university research endeavors.

6.      Ability to review draft proposals for compliance with University policies, as well as identification of problematic terms, conditions, or issues.

7.      Ability to work independently and set priorities.

8.      Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task, including juggling multiple time-sensitive demands.

 

This position is grant funded. While the position is full-time, there may be some flexibility based on an applicant’s knowledge and level of experience.
