NOTICE OF VACANCY
Position Title: Teacher on Special Assignment - CPSE Chairperson/Coordinator
The person assigned to this position will be responsible for chairing the CPSE as well as serving as the coordinator between the District, providers and parents. Position requires 20-30 days in July and August. Must complete District-Provided CSE/CPSE Chairperson training by August 29, 2022.
Qualifications:
- Holds NYS certification in any of the following areas: special education, school psychology, speech
and language pathology,
- Highly organized
- Possess at least 5 years of professional experience
- Experience in the interpretation of evaluation data, IEP development, & Part 100 of the NYS Regulations
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Able to problem-solve and work in a fast-paced environment
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements and maintains procedures for the operation of the CPSE
- Supervises CPSE clerical support and administrative procedures to insure efficient CPSE operation
- Ensures that all students referred to the CPSE receive the necessary evaluations within SED regulations
- Preparing for the CPSE/CSE transitioning- overseeing consents/registration/medicaid, scheduling meetings, reviewing all students with CSE chairperson. Helping to perform observations as needed.
- Supervises the preparation of CPSE agenda and scheduling of CPSE meetings assuring that mandated members are in attendance at each meeting and that the parent of each child to be discussed is invited to the meeting. Creates yearly participation schedule for general and special education teachers.
- Chairs CPSE meetings and ensures the IEPs are accurately written. Conducts initial, amendment, annual, and program reviews. Implements amendment-no meeting process.
- Works cooperatively with parents and agency staff to coordinate programs and services as a result of CPSE decisions
- Works cooperatively with agency, UPK, and private preschool staff to place students in an appropriate program. Maintains communication to ensure implementation of IEP mandates.
- Keeps well informed of all NYS laws and regulations pertaining to special education services for preschool aged students
- Ensures compliance of IEP with NYS regulations
- Ensures timely evaluations for EI to CPSE transitions
- All EOY data and BEDS day data pertaining to CPSE
- Attend yearly trainings for EOY and BEDS day data
- Completes information in IEP Direct related to state PD reporting requirements
- Completes STAC forms
- Attend all Erie County preschool task force meetings
- Work with and help coordinate services at the Ken-Ton UPK
- Help to oversee contact for the consultant special education teacher from ECMC pediatrics
- Consults with parents, staff members and administrators as needed
- Consults with Director of Elementary Education on Pre-K matters
- Provides program support and consultation to YMCA Pre-K program within District
- Planning, training, overseeing the staff of the SCIS program
- Coordinating transportation for students in SCIS with Erie County
- Writing and reviewing the yearly contract with Erie County (SCIS class)
- As per the Erie County contract the district is responsible for monitoring attendance of all students, contacting the county if there are unexplained absences exceeding 10 days by written documentation (SCIS class).
- Prepares projections, packets and referrals for students transitioning to school-aged services. Assists in scheduling classroom visits, reevaluations, and psychologist reviews.
- Responsive to parent and provider questions and concerns
- At the end of the school year, exiting out all students that are transitioning to Kindergarten, completing all preschool outcomes.
- Find all CPSE students special class and integrated placements (that are recommended)
- In conjunction with the CPSE secretary, find all related service providers for recommended services for CPSE students.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Special Education & Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
Reports to: The Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
Contract: 10 months up to 30 duty days in July and August
Salary: 1.0 FTE of Teacher's Salary current daily rate during summer
Starting Date: August 1, 2022 (days between 08/01/22 - 08/29/22 will be paid per diem)
