Assistant Manager Knowledge & Skills:
- Hands-on Leadership Experience
- Proven experience in delivering exceptional customer service while executing clear and concise communications skills.
- Comfortable working with different types of personalities when engaging with customers and fellow employees.
- Provide fast, friendly and knowledgeable service to our customers to assess their needs and provide guidance.
- Experience with Point-of-Sale computer systems and/or ability to learn a computer system quickly.
- Ability to do basic and complex mathematical calculations: square footage, pounds, etc.
- Self-motivated and willing step-in to perform tasks as assigned with the goal of increasing revenue and operational effectiveness.
- Inventory Management experience
- Forklift/Equipment operator Experience
Assistant Manager Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all operations of the store in the absence of the General Manager
- Supervises yard laborers, drivers, and sales associates.
- Enforces the Company's policies and procedures.
- Assists and implements employee training activities.
- Provides exceptional customer service to clientele.
- Responsible for maintaining the store at an optimal level which includes maintenance, cleaning, inventory, and store appearance.
- Maintains store-level compliance with Woerner Turf & Landscape Supply's standards of safety, security, facility maintenance, sanitation, postings/notifications, and other administrative duties.
- Supervises as well as participates in unloading of trucks, sorting product, stocking product, ordering product, inventorying product, ticketing merchandise, re-merchandising, nursery related maintenance on product, and the reconciliation of all cash and inventory transactions.
- Making efficient logistical decisions related to pick up and delivery of products
- Addresses customer complaints and resolves problems.
- Responsible for gaining new clientele in both the retail and wholesale markets.
- Assists in store promotional activities.

Qualifications
- Supervisory experience in a related field
- Knowledge of Turf management, hardscapes, and landscaping practices
- Strong leadership and customer service skills
- Experience with inventory management and POS systems
- Previous experience as an assistant manager
- Ability to operate a forklift safely
- Certification in horticulture or related field is a plus
