The DPM leads and develops a high-performing project management team, focusing on mentoring, training, career growth, and operational excellence. This role oversees capacity planning, project assignments, and a balanced project mix, all while promoting Wolverine Building Group’s core values: integrity, excellence, problem-solving, and proactive leadership.
Collaborating with market leaders, the DPM ensures efficient project delivery aligned with organizational goals for quality, timelines, budgets, safety, and client satisfaction. This role fosters team pride, integrity, and community commitment, driving exceptional results and operational success.
\n- Prioritizes safety throughout all project phases, from planning to completion.
- Develops and standardizes project management practices in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring Strong 7 adherence and process optimization across all market segments.
- Coaches team on managing complex construction processes and relationships with senior leadership.
- Monitors team performance metrics like schedule adherence, cost control, and client satisfaction, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Guides team members on dashboard accuracy and project health, ensuring staffing levels align with project needs.
- Strategically assigns projects based on team skills, career goals, and project complexity, balancing workload and fostering development.
- Optimizes project type distribution to balance team expertise and provide development opportunities.
- Works with General Superintendents to ensure balanced project teams.
- Communicates relevant project information, resolves issues, and escalates as needed.
- Collects feedback from project team leaders for performance and career development.
- Onboards and trains new project management staff, ensuring compliance with SOPs.
- Provides coaching, feedback, and direction to support team growth and prepare for future roles.
- Collaborates with leadership to create a vision for project management growth.
- Ensures reliable attendance and performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Project Management in the built environment.
- Must have experience working on varied and complex projects, as well as applicable leadership experience (formal or informal).
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CCM (Certified Construction Manager), or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- In-depth knowledge of construction safety, compliance, quality control, and a commitment to a safety-first culture.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Procore, construction management software (e.g., Bluebeam, Acumatica), and scheduling tools. Embraces technology and innovation.
- Expertise in construction project management methodologies, principles, and strategies, including Lean, Design-Build, Critical Path, and Integrated Project Delivery.
- Strong financial acumen and leadership experience with Design-Build, Ground-Up, and renovation projects.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills with a confident, professional demeanor.
- Skilled at fostering positive work environments, promoting teamwork, and tactfully addressing sensitive issues.
- Proven ability to rally teams and manage diverse groups effectively.
