Overall Job Purpose:
The Belt Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all belt conveyor systems at the mine, including installation, maintenance, advancement, and retreat, to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the health and safety of all personnel under your supervision, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
- Plan, install, and maintain belt conveyor systems for the mine, managing and directing personnel to ensure proper maintenance and installation.
- Collaborate with the Belt Engineer, maintenance & Production department and shift coordinators to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
- Analyze equipment information and make data-driven decisions to enhance operations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor cost reduction plans and productivity improvements.
- Foster a positive working relationship with hourly employees, encouraging innovative ideas and methods to improve efficiency.
- Set goals, establish priorities, and maintain high standards through collaboration with all departments.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of safety policies and procedures to ensure an injury-free work environment.
- Forecast and budget for capital expenditures, including the advancement and replacement of belting and belt components.
- Collaborate with the Belt Engineer to design and improve belt systems, ensuring efficiency and availability in new installations and enhancements to existing systems.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Extensive underground coal mining experience (7 years preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of State and Federal Mining Laws, particularly those regulating belt conveyor systems.
- Proven experience in underground supervisory roles, with a demonstrated ability to successfully lead and motivate a workforce.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions regarding safety, production, maintenance, and legal compliance.
- Utah Mine Foreman Certification (required). MSHA Electrical Certification (Preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
