Overall Job Purpose:
The Shift Coordinator is responsible for the safe and efficient production of coal by maximizing the effective utilization of available resources. This role ensures that operations align with safety, production, and quality goals on a rotating shift basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety Compliance: Implements, maintains, and monitors health and safety programs to ensure adherence to regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Operational Coordination: Oversees and coordinates all underground and surface activities on a rotating shift.
- Planning & Scheduling: Collaborates with supervisors to coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
- Leadership: Sets clear expectations for subordinates and fosters a team-oriented work environment.
- Cross-Department Communication: Works effectively with all departments to align goals and resolve issues.
- Performance Management: Conducts employee performance evaluations and provides constructive feedback.
- Material Management: Approves material and supply orders to ensure operational efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participates in process improvement initiatives to optimize operations.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Industry Expertise: Extensive and diverse underground coal mining experience, including CM & Longwall production, prep plant operations, and outby work.
- Leadership Background: Proven underground supervisory experience in a coal mining environment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency (e.g., email, spreadsheets, reporting).
- Certifications: Utah Mine Foreman Certification (required).
