What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Medical Assistant - Woman’s Breast Specialists - Days position at Woman's Hospital?
Woman’s is more than just a hospital. We offer a variety of outpatient health clinics, specialty practices and services for the community. Woman’s Breast Specialist Clinic is looking for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant.
Requirements:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification as a medical assistant required
- Previous work experience in an ambulatory clinic setting is strongly preferred
- Previous medication administration experience preferred
Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant include, but are not limited to:
- Meets, greets, and escorts patients to exam rooms; prepares patients for provider’s visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs including all medical history, weight and height, blood pressure, etc.
- Assists physician with exams, tests, and minor procedures; clean instruments; prepare sterile trays for procedures.
- Orders, stocks, and maintains supplies for exam rooms; reviews all medication and supplies for expiration dates.
- Creates patient's charts; verifies patient's medical records for pertinent data; reviews and maintains current patient information and demographic data.
- Schedules appointments and tests; pre-certify all admissions, surgeries, and outpatient procedures for insurance coverage; reviews all requisitions (labs and x-rays) for completeness and reports results to physician; coordinate appointments and referrals with another physician.
- Perform general clerical duties as requested. Assist other clinic staff members as needed.
- Answers, screens, and returns phone calls regarding prescription orders and refills, patient questions, etc.
- Responsible for CPT and ICD-10 coding for all procedures; works and corrects denied and problem accounts on a weekly basis.
- Responsible for meeting with Regulatory Agencies.
- Coordinates physician meetings including medical review panels, depositions, hospital committee meetings.
- Coordinates and maintains surgery schedule for physicians.
- Orders and receives medications as needed from Pharmacy. Documents as necessary any utilization of medications per provider order within drug log and/or medical record.
- Uses ICD-10 coding for all imaging procedures and imaging pre-certifications.
- Performs other department and clinic specific duties and projects as assigned.
- May be floated to other clinics when needed.
Hours
Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm
Most Fridays, 7:30am -2pm
