The Woman’s Hospital Perinatal Mental Health Unit is the state’s first inpatient pregnancy and postpartum psychiatric unit. The unit has a specialty focus for perinatal women suffering from acute mental health conditions and requiring detainment for the treatment of perinatal women suffering from mental health illness.
The Nurse Practitioner in the Hospital's Perinatal Mental Health Unit plays a vital role in providing specialized care for pregnant individuals and new mothers experiencing behavioral health challenges. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, the NP assesses, diagnoses, and manages perinatal mental health conditions, ensuring the well-being of both mother and baby.
Requirements:
- Requires Master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Experience in mental health nursing preferred
- Knowledge of perinatal mental health disorders, treatments, and therapeutic approaches is highly preferred
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrates independence, competency, and accuracy in all work tasks, including those directly and indirectly related to patient care; consistently and competently provides ongoing primary healthcare services in conformance with established standards of care and administrative policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge concerning principles and practice of primary healthcare of adults and children through current literature, journal subscriptions, attendance at workshops and seminars, membership in professional organizations, and licensure maintenance.
- Creates and maintains accurate records, appropriate legal documents, and other reports of patient care consistent with the requirements of local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies.
- Conduct thorough health assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests; Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings; Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans based on the assessment findings, medical history, and specific mental health needs of the patient; Seek consultation or refer patients to specialists when appropriate.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic health conditions; Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions as needed;
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding their health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care measures; Emphasize health promotion and disease prevention strategies during patient encounters; Conduct screenings and immunizations as part of preventive care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient progress.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Perform other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Schedule:
Part-time; Hourly
Monday - Friday: In unit 4pm - 9pm and on-call 9pm to 7am
Saturday and Sunday: On-call every other weekend (19 hours)
Pay Range:
$44.64 to $73.66 base pay an hour based on experience, plus on-call pay
