SUMMARY
Women In Non Traditional Employment Roles (WINTER) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to train, educate and prepare women for transformative careers in the construction industry. The Outreach Specialist plays a key role in advancing WINTER’s mission by identifying, engaging and building relationships with individuals and community organizations to promote WINTER’s Apprenticeship Readiness Program.
The person in this role is responsible for creating and implementing an effective recruitment plan, including in-service presentations (social service agencies, universities, clubs, civic groups, religious/faith groups, etc.), participation in community events (i.e., health & job fairs) and content creation for social media.
RESPONSIBILITIES
I: OUTREACH & RECRUITMENT
· Conduct community outreach to women, local community centers, schools, social service agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
· Promote WINTER’s Apprenticeship Readiness Program through various channels, including in-person visits, phone calls, email campaigns, social media and community events.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including women-serving organizations, nonprofits and schools.
· Identify and engage underrepresented groups of women, within the community who can benefit from attending the Apprenticeship Readiness Program.
II: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
· Lead presentations, information sessions, and workshops in the community to inform potential participants about available services.
· Attend job fairs, community events, and networking activities to build the organization’s presence and create/maintain awareness.
· Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations to support recruitment efforts and program referrals.
III: PROGRAM SUPPORT & FOLLOW UP
· Provide guidance and assistance to potential program participants throughout the application and intake process.
· Support participants with program enrollment, orientation, and preparation for the training.
· Track and follow up with outreach leads to ensure successful enrollment and continued engagement.
IV: DATA MANAGE & REPORTING
· Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, engagement efforts, and program referrals.
· Monitor and report on the success of outreach activities, including participant conversation rates and community impact.
· Assist with the creation of reports and performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of outreach activities.
V: COLLABORATION & TEAMWORK
· Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless participant enrollment and service delivery.
· Work with the internal team to create outreach materials, including fliers, social media post and content for newsletters.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
I: EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in outreach, community engagement, or recruitment.
- Experience working in gender-specific, diversity, or workforce development sectors preferred.
- Knowledge of the challenges and barriers faced by women in the workforce.
II: SKILLS
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse communities.
· Experience with public speaking and conducting presentations to various audiences.
· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage outreach schedules.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

EDUCATION
· Four-year/bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Communication, Human Resources.

· Ability to work in the United States.
· Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for outreach activities.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The working environment for this role is a professional office setting, and outdoors at community/public events.
