Job Summary: The Administrative Supervisor of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides full administrative support to the Chief, directs the coordination and supervision of transcriptionists and department secretarial staff, helps develop department policies and procedures, assists in the development of budgets, and coordinates daily operations. Provides personal secretarial and administrative support to the Chief of Pathology such as preparing correspondence in final form, receiving visitors, maintaining files, scheduling meetings, conducting and participating in special projects as determined or approved by the Chief of Pathology. Attends various committee meeting as required and may be responsible for recording minutes of meetings.
Specifications: Associates degree required, Bachelors degree preferred. At least three to five years of previous experience in a health care environment, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Excellent human relations and communications skills required. Working knowledge of personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications preferred. Proficiency in the English language and knowledge of medical terminology necessary.
