The OBGYN Triage Nurse (LPN) provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. They also provide extensive OBGYN triage via telephone.
- Performs extensive triage of OB/GYN patients via phone and calls patients with test results.
- Performs fetal non-stress test (NST).
- Prepares patients for examination and assists physician during treatment/procedures, examinations and testing of patients.
- Records patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
- Measures, records and documents vital signs.
- Where applicable, performs phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
- Prepares and administers medications as directed by a provider.
- Authorizes drug refills as directed.
- Educates patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider; answering questions.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Sterilizes medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
- Represents the office in a professional manner. Treats all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
- Participates in team activities and professional development activities.
- Demonstrates and embodies the Women’s Care mission and core values.
- Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Ability to obtain and maintain BLS/CPR certification.
- Strong bedside manner and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a stressful, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to communicate with coworkers, providers, and patients in a courteous and effective manner.
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical record system, eCW a plus.
- Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
