The WCJ offers a challenging, dynamic, and supportive environment to its employees. It is based in Jacksonville, and works hard to improve the lives of women through advocacy, support and education and provides rape recovery services for individuals of all genders. The WCJ is the only certified rape crisis center in Duval, Baker and Nassau counties and provides hundreds of forensic exams to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones. The center also offers mental health counseling; community education, breast cancer and elder abuse; and rape prevention services and outreach throughout the community..
JOB TITLE: COUNSELOR
JOB SUMMARY: The Counselor is responsible for providing individual, group, and family therapeutic counseling services. Assesses each victim’s psychological status and needs in order to evaluate and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Follows systems provided to maintain accurate and efficient records.
CREDENTIALS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Required:
- MA, M.Ed., MSW (Psychology/Counseling)
- Must be able to maintain malpractice insurance
- Minimum one year experience providing therapeutic counseling
- Must be licensed in the State of Florida
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Knowledge of a range of counseling and therapeutic techniques
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft office and ability to utilize client database
Preferred:
- LMHC, LSCW or Registered Intern
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct individual, group and family therapeutic counseling services
- Administer client assessments to evaluate counseling services
- Recommend treatment programs based upon individual needs
- Document services and prepares reports as needed
- Respond to emergencies as a member of the Counseling Program
- Provide information and referral of community resources to clients
- Participate in Counseling Program meetings and agency meetings
- Assume all other duties as assigned
RATE OF PAY: $24/hour
