- Referral Management: Receive and review referral requests from healthcare providers, ensuring completeness and accuracy of information. Coordinate referrals for patients to specialists, diagnostic services, and other healthcare providers as ordered by physicians.
- Insurance Verification and Authorization: Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for referrals, obtaining pre-authorizations and referrals as required by insurance plans. Communicate with insurance carriers and third-party administrators to obtain authorization for specialty services.
- Appointment Scheduling: Schedule appointments for patients with specialists, diagnostic facilities, and other healthcare providers based on referral orders. Coordinate scheduling of follow-up appointments and tests as directed by healthcare providers.
- Patient Communication: Communicate with patients regarding referral appointments, scheduling instructions, and pre-appointment preparations. Provide information to patients about referral processes, insurance coverage, and financial responsibilities.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of referral requests, authorizations, and communications with patients and healthcare providers. Enter referral information into electronic health records (EHR) systems and referral tracking databases.
- Follow-Up and Coordination of Care: Follow up with patients to ensure completion of referral appointments and receipt of specialty services. Coordinate communication between referring physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to facilitate continuity of care.

- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or certification in healthcare administration preferred.
