Description
For over 40 years the Women's Center of East Texas has served survivors of domestic abuse, their witnessing children, and victims of sexual assault. We are looking for a compassionate, service-oriented Sexual Assault Coordinator who has a desire to assist these clients.
Position Summary and Primary Duties
Under the direction of the Director of Programs and oversight of WCET and its funders, provide holistic client-centered and trauma informed care, including advocating and promoting public awareness regarding domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Provide direct services to survivors of sexual assault and their family members. Direct services include initial intake, crisis intervention, case management, safety planning, medical & law enforcement accompaniment, assistance with VINE, information/referral and follow-up counseling to victims of sexual assault.
- Coordinate WCET participation with the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) program, including the scheduling and maintenance of the HEART on-call calendar.
- Actively participate as a subject matter expert in the meetings and events for the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
- Assist in the coordination and facilitation of the Sexual Assault Response Team training.
- Facilitate sexual assault support groups as needed.
- Schedule and provide on-call coverage in accordance with on-call guidelines when scheduled (e.g. HEART calendar).
- Answer and respond to 24-hour hotline offering safety planning, problem solving, resources, and assistance with client’s immediate needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with victims of sexual assault or other trauma-related issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or human services field is preferred or a combination of education and experience.
- Compassionate and client focused.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform computer functions (e.g. MS Office, data software, etc).
- Team player.
- Ability to travel to all counties within WCET service area.
- Ability to work occasionally nights and weekends, as needed.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

- Remain calm under stress and have the emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of stressful situations.
- Occasionally work outside during day or night hours and/or inclement weather.
