Job Summary
The Staff Accountant provides general support to the Wonders business office. Responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and monthly close processes, and maintaining documentation for accounts receivable. The Staff Accountant is supervised by the Controller.
The Staff Accountant must accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Additionally, excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
Wonders Early Learning Extended Day actively supports the career and professional advancement of staff through continuing education. A minimum of 18 hours of such training is required yearly.
This is a part-time, 12 month position.
Essential Functions
- Assist in preparation of financial statements
- Maintain receivable and deferred revenue bookkeeping databases and spreadsheets, updating information as needed
- Communicate with customers to update and process payments, answer questions, and provide support
- Maintain all customer accounts in system, and coordinate with Family Accounts Specialist for the billing of customers, sending accounts statements, and processing billing changes
- Reconcile credit card statements, including transaction documentation
- Enter, code, and assign approvers for all invoices through bill.com
- Create journal entries to the general ledger for revenue, depositis, etc.
- Facilitate and oversee the enrollment process for new and returning students.
- Collect and review enrollment documents to ensure completeness and compliance with organizational policies.
- Communicate with families regarding enrollment status, required documents, and deadlines.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by controller

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- 2 years of accounting experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- Good problem-solving and time management skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
