POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of your job position is to schedule nursing staffing to meet the needs of the patients and facility, communicate the staffing schedule to staff on a timely basis, and fill any vacant shifts through coordination with staff.

- Develop and maintain staffing schedules, patient care assignments, and other staffing related records, including those necessary to meet state-specific staffing requirements, in the required format for that state
- Schedule staff in coordination with the Director of Nursing or designee
- Proactively work with staff to fill vacant shifts, either due to open positions, or call-ins
- Communicate staffing and hiring needs to the Director of Nursing or designee, and participate in interviews as needed.
- Post and communicate schedules to all nursing staff
- In coordination with Payroll department, ensure that all hours scheduled and worked have been captured in the payroll system. Ensure that all TARF’s have been properly filled out, signed, and provided to Payroll.
- Schedule vacations, LOA’s, and other time off in conjunction and communication with the Director of Nursing or designee.
- Report suspicious persons/information to supervisor immediately.
- Receive, sort and distribute mail as directed.
- Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or appropriate including filling in for other department personnel (such as marketing, social services etc.)
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.

Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Other Specific Requirements
- Must provide evidence of being free of tuberculosis infection upon hire and as set forth by the policies of the facility.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
-Must be proficient with computers, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
-Must be willing to learn any other computer programs company uses and become proficient.
-Must maintain confidentiality.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works in area(s) throughout the nursing service area (i.e. nurse’s stations, resident rooms, etc.).
- Moves intermittently during working hours.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Interacts with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
- Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. May be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
