Behavior Technician / Ready Program / Full Time /Days
The Behavior Technician is responsible for providing intensive applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to clients with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities, under the direction of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Behavior Technicians will provide one-on-one interventions with each child to decrease problem behaviors and increase skill acquisition, as well as support during group activities, related to the delivery of applied behavior analysis services. Activities include implementing ABA therapy, monitoring behavior analysis services, implementing behavior plans, and daily data collection and display. Therapy will be implemented in a center-based environment.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Carries out implementation of ABA therapy as devised by BCBA and/or Coordinator.
2. Documents appropriately by maintaining client’s program book, daily session note, billing sheet, etc.
3. Manages materials, supplies and maintains a clean and safe instructional environment.
4. Effectively communicates with parent/caregiver, discusses progress or regression of goals as well as ways parents/caregivers can implement goals in the natural environment. Defers to BCBA when appropriate.
5. Requisitions equipment, supplies and requests for repair as delegated.
6. Collaborates frequently with BCBA, Ready Program Teachers, ST, OT, PT, and other disciplines regarding patient care.
7. Demonstrates the knowledge and use of a variety of components of applied behavior analysis (ex. Antecedent behavior strategies, prompting, reinforcement of target behavior, DTT, etc.).
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
o ABA Tutor Coursework as part of the 40-hour training requirement for the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential within 90 days.
o Preferred: Candidates currently pursuing a BA or MA degree, or already possess a BA degree, in a related field. Candidates whose studies have an emphasis on autism and/or applied behavior analysis.
o Preferred: Experience working with children diagnosed with autism both in group setting and one-on-one. Opportunities for professional growth are also available and highly encouraged.
o Candidates pursuing certification by the BACB. Candidates with a minimum of one (1) year of experience implementing ABA therapy. Training for this position is available on site.
o Enjoy working with children who have been diagnosed with developmental disabilities
o Strong communication and customer service skills
o Proven creative abilities, strong organizational and time management skills
o Attention to detail
o Behavior Technician must make judgments in the following areas: client safety, client motivation, planning and organization.
