Medical Office Receptionist
In accordance with the mission of Wood Health Company, the Medical Office Receptionist provides positive communication and professional excellence while interacting with the patients. This position serves as the primary contact between the office, patients and outside parties.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Greets patients and visitors and makes them feel welcome in the practice. 2. Answers multi-line phone system. 3. Schedule appointments following practice protocol. 4. Verifies and enters patient demographics and copies/scans insurance cards. 5. Updates patient’s demographic information at each visit. 6. Inputs daily charges and receipts. 7. Creates new patient charts in accordance with practice policy. 8. Reminder Phone Calls 9. Calls for referrals (other M.D. offices and insurance companies ) 10. Calls for authorization to miscellaneous insurance companies. 11. Does necessary updates on forms, paperwork, etc. Makes copies when needed. 12. Balances end-of-day reports and balances incoming patient money. 13. Pulls daily charts and sorts with the appropriate encounter forms. 14. Assembles and maintains an adequate stock of new patient records. 15. Maintains an adequate supply of progress notes, medication logs, new patient registration sheets, release of medical record sheets, and all other forms contained within the medical record. 16. Assists nursing staff when needed (blood pressure, lab procedures, etc.), accordingly to competency and training. May escorts patients to exam rooms if needed. 17. Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by office manager/site coordinator. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE • High School Diploma or GED. • Exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills. • Customer service-oriented attitude/behavior. • Experience and knowledge of insurance carriers. • Working experience with computerized scheduling, demographic and charge entry PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1.
