Position Overview
A Tree Care Crew Member and Grounds Technician’s primary job is to assist with residential tree trimming and removal. This work leaves a transformative, lasting impact on the community and customers we serve. We work on a year-round basis and exposure to all kinds of outdoor weather is expected, example: heat, rain, sun, cold, etc. A Valid Driver’s License is Required.
· Assist bucket truck operators, climbers and crew leaders by working on the ground cutting, chipping and loading brush, limbs, logs and/or stump grinding and proper job site cleanup
· Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
· Demonstrates high safety standards, sound tree risk assessment skills, equipment inspection skills, proper pruning and rigging skills, and tree felling procedures
· Assist with the setup of work zone safety
· Responsible for carrying out all other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader or designated supervisor
Job Requirements

- Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, example: rain, heat, sun, and cold
- Able to wear necessary PPE as necessary
- Able to lift, move and maneuver up to 75 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis
- Able to operate all required tools and equipment
- Must have reliable transportation to and from our shop, where we begin and end daily
Required Qualifications
- 1 year or more verifiable experience trimming or removal in a residential tree care setting or equivalent, relatable experience
- Valid driver’s license
Successful professionals at Woodchuckers have come from a variety of backgrounds, including: Tree Worker, Bucket Operator, Trimmer, Foreman, Climber, Rock Climbing, Outdoor Labor, Utility Line Clearance, Arboriculture, Environmental Studies, Horticulture, Arborist, Vegetation Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Storm Restoration, and Landscape Maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of trimming or removal experience in the residential tree care industry
- Proficient with a chainsaw
- CDL or willing/able to obtain one
