Position Overview: The Camp Director will oversee all aspects of Woodcroft Club’s seasonal camp programs alongside the Director of Education, ensuring a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for campers and staff. This role involves managing camp schedules, overseeing and training staff, communicating with parents, and ensuring camp operations align with the Club’s mission and standards with the support of an Assistant Director.
A successful camp season for the Director is defined by the following.
- Camper’s enjoy a fun, engaging, and memorable experience that leaves them interested in returning for future sessions.
- Parents are impressed by the communication and quality of the camp.
- Counselors are engaged, productive, and efficient in a supportive and positive team environment.
- The camp operates with a strong focus on physical and emotional safety of all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Management
- Help plan and supervise implementation of weekly camp themes and activities that cater to various age groups and skill levels.
- Oversee the daily schedule and ensure smooth transitions between activities across multiple locations on the club grounds.
- Collaborate with the tennis and swim departments to ensure smooth operations during swim lessons, free swim, and the campers’ use of the various spaces around the property.
Staff Leadership
- Help train and supervise camp counselors and tennis coaches (planning for tennis curriculum is not required).
- Provide clear direction, support, and feedback to staff to maintain a high standard of program delivery.
- Foster a positive team environment, encouraging collaboration and creativity among staff.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including oversight during water activities and proper use of equipment.
- Maintain compliance with applicable health and safety rules.
- Manage incidents promptly, documenting and communicating with parents and club leadership as necessary.
Parent & Community Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, addressing questions, concerns, and special requests.
- Communicate camp details and updates effectively, including weekly schedules, activity highlights, and reminders.
Administration
- Communicate with the Director about any changes requested so the Director can manage changes in registration, including helping the Director maintain accurate rosters and health information.
- Communicate with the Director to ensure supplies needed for camp activities are ordered.
- Help the Director manage staffing needs.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Prior experience in managing staff in an educational environment, camp management, or similar youth programming roles.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with tennis, swimming, or similar recreational activities is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation management, or a related field (preferred).
- CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain before the start of employment).

Compensation and Timeline:
We are offering $24 - $27/hour for full-time employment. Employment runs from June through August. Flexibility to start as soon as May 5th, but needed to start by June 9th full-time, with flexible part-time hours available prior to June 9th for training. For the right candidate, we will work with your schedule. Staff have access to the facilities in their off hours as a summer perk.
