Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

The Technical Writer is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG s dynamic team. The Technical Writer will develop, prepare and/or maintain and file operations and maintenance procedures and management system information related to the Woodfibre LNG project. The Technical Writer will review and collect available technical information where needed. The Technical Writer will also create new documentation or updates to existing documentation to accurately reflect changes in the operational requirements going forward.

The successful candidate reports directly to the Operations Day Superintendent and will play an essential part in supporting the company through the construction phase of the project into operations.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will:

  • Develop documentation, such as Operations and Maintenance procedures, that supports the Technical and Non-technical divisions within the Operations and Maintenance Teams.
  • File documentation in accordance with WLNG s management system and documentation requirements.
  • Coach and train Operations and Maintenance staff on best practices and standards for drafting technical documentation
  • Proof-read draft technical documentation from as needed.
  • Recommend best practice improvements to company standard documentation templates.
  • Co-create content with Operations and Maintenance staff in an electronic procedure writing tool.

HSSE:

  • Demonstrate 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
  • Promote a high level of safety awareness and ensure all technical documents adhere to safety standards.
  • The development of technical documentation to support safe work practices and procedures.

Requirements

Required Experience:

  • University degree or equivalent studies.
  • Other vocational qualifications will be an advantage.
  • 2 to 4 years of technical writing experience. Proven working experience in technical authoring.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in an industrial/engineering environment preferably with time spent in the petrochemical industry.
  • Proficient user of the MS Office software.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience of working with large multi-disciplinary teams in a multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Strong prioritization & organization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong attention to detail both verbally and written.
  • Able to work independently and ensure tasks are completed with little supervision.
  • Willingness to learn/adapt to new or evolving techniques, IT systems and processes.
  • Operates as a team player while supporting company-level priorities and goals.
  • Reviewing the work of technical team members to provide constructive input into the final product while overseeing other writers and contributors to ensure high-quality documentation.
  • Adaptability to work through problems while delivering effective solutions.
  • Possesses a positive and energetic self-starter attitude, with excellent drive, ambition and work ethic.
  • Accepts responsibility and demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of tasks and targets.
  • A valid driver s license and passport.
  • This role is on-site position at our Corporate Office in Downtown Vancouver, BC.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • This position is a termed employment of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for 1 year.

Salary range: CAD 60,000 - 80,000/yr
