Town of Woodfin
The School Resource Officer is a traditional police officer, assigned to the elementary school in Woodfin. The SRO will work school hours and be available for school events outside of traditional hours. The SRO will serve in a patrol capacity, when school is out of session. SRO certification is preferred, but not required.
Police Officer - Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary law enforcement figure within the Town schools.
- Serve as POC between school system and town government.
- Assist with establishing and carrying out security protocols.
- Create and employ community policing strategies to serve school community.
- Safeguard the students of Woodfin by proactively addressing crime and disorder.
- Provide instruction to students, staff, and parents on crime awareness and prevention, and conflict resolution.
- Act as the initial point of contact for investigations and responsible for writing detailed reports.
- Actively patrol the Town of Woodfin to prevent and deter crimes.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid NC driver’s license
- Have successfully completed Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) course in North Carolina and currently hold active North Carolina certification.
- Ability to pass an extensive background investigation and interview process
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
- The applicant must have the ability to perform the physical activities of the job
Experienced Officers could qualify for a higher scale based on their training, experience, and years of service.
The beginning Salary for a probationary law enforcement officer is $50,796.76 per year. After Six-month probation the officer will qualify for POI $51,297.21. Qualified officers could receive a pay scale of POII $58,297.24 or Senior Officer $58,297.24.

Schedule: Generally 7 am -4 pm, Monday through Friday. Adjustments to the schedule will be made during holiday and summer seasons.
