After-School Early Childhood Assistant

At Woodinville Montessori School (WMS), we believe in more than just education; we believe in nurturing the whole child and fostering a lifelong love of learning. Since 1983, our mission has been to empower students from Toddler through High School with a holistic Montessori education that emphasizes independence, empathy, self-advocacy, and flexibility. Our campuses in Bothell and Woodinville, WA, serve a diverse community of lifelong learners, and we are looking for passionate individuals to join our team.

The Early Childhood Assistant will work in a collaborative team setting and be given opportunities to develop the competencies needed to support the children's development of independence, concentration, coordination, and organizational skills that are a direct or indirect aim of many of the class activities. The emphasis on respect for people and things that permeates all interactions also helps the children to develop self-control and well-rounded social skills. The Bothell campus is conveniently located off I-405 just north of State route 522. The Woodinville campus is conveniently located two blocks south of downtown Woodinville, off State route 202.

This part-time, academic year position starts as soon as possible, with the hours of Monday – Friday 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Woodinville campus.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will:

• Possess keen awareness of the functioning of the whole while also paying attention to individual and small group needs.
• Be committed to excellent communication with students, staff, and the school leadership team.
• Exhibit a high degree of organization and attention to detail and an understanding of how to convey this to students.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of current research in human development and learning in support of the Montessori educational approach and enjoyment of children.
• Contribute positively to the school community beyond the job specific tasks, including active cross-level collaboration with a can-do attitude.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree is preferable.
• Two or more years’ classroom experience is preferable.
• Commitment to professional development and best practices in education.
• Commitment to meeting the needs of each student.
• WA State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) for Child Care Center: Early Childhood Assistant Teacher Qualifications (Preferred. Will provide training for the right candidate.)
  • Including but not limited to: DCYF background check, TB test, High school diploma, Childcare basics, First Aid/ CPR, Blood-borne pathogens training.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Salary range is $21 - $24 per hour, dependent on education, training, and experience. Benefits include paid time off, 403b retirement plan, professional development allowance.
