Woodland Hardwoods is passionate about creating premium quality wood products and making them available to the public. Our products include live edge slabs, dimensional lumber, finished countertops, tables, mantles and stair treads.
Position Summary:
We're seeking a motivated and energetic Wood Shop Assistant to support our daily operations. In this role, you'll help with a wide range of tasks—from operating machinery and assisting in wood processing to contributing to custom woodworking projects. We are seeking an individual with experience in cabinet or traditional furniture production.
This candidate must be able to work efficiently to meet tight deadlines and maintain the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction Our candidate is passionate about beautiful wood, a hard worker with a desire to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with various wood processing tasks such as sanding, jointing, surfacing and cutting.
- Safely operate the sawmill equipment, table saws, and other power tools.
- Safely operate loaders and forklift.
- Organizing logs, milled lumber and slabs. Following our system for inventory management.
- Driving to transport logs to and from properties for log procurement.
- Sort, stack, and organize lumber according to size, grade, and specifications.
- Monitor and maintain production equipment for optimal performance and safety.
- Assist with log handling, feeding logs into sawmill machines, and removing waste materials.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure lumber meets industry and company standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols.
- Work efficiently as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Assist with general maintenance and troubleshooting of sawmill equipment.
Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting on equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Comfortable working in an environment with dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Team Collaboration & Efficiency:
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing craftsmanship.
- Assist team members as needed to maintain a smooth workflow.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Driver Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain a commercial driver's license (Class E or higher) with a clean driving record and pass a drug test.
Compensation & Benefits:
Upon completion of 90 evaluation the following benefits will apply.
