Days/Hrs: 180 days/7 hours per day (1.0 FTE), 9 professional development days and 14 positions specific days

Pay Schedule: LINK to 24-25 schedule, 25-26 TBD
Benefits: Position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D and LTD through the School Employee Benefits Board (SEBB), effective 9/1/25. Position is WA State Department of Retirement Systems eligible.
Job Summary:
Woodland Middle School is seeking a dynamic and student-focused School Counselor to provide social, emotional, and academic support to students in alignment with our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. This position will also serve as a Student-Support Liaison, working closely with our Family Community Resource Center to connect families with essential services and community resources.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in School Counseling with a valid ESA certificate
Three years of experience at the middle school level preferred
Experience or knowledge of MTSS and PBIS implementation
Strong ability to work with culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse students and families
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students
Strong communication, problem-solving, and advocacy skills
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in master scheduling
Regular and punctual attendance
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement a Comprehensive School Counseling Program aligned with Washington State standards and district priorities
Provide individual and group counseling services to students to support their academic, social-emotional, and career development
Support the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework by identifying student needs and implementing appropriate interventions
Promote Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) by actively participating in school-wide behavior support initiatives
Serve as a Student-Support Liaison, collaborating with the Family Community Resource Center to connect families with resources such as housing support, mental health services, and academic interventions
Work closely with administrators and teachers to support student attendance initiatives, including check-ins and interventions for chronically absent students
Assist with 504 Plan coordination, ensuring compliance with student accommodations and support plans
Advocate for students and provide crisis intervention as needed
Assist students with academic planning and scheduling, ensuring they are placed in appropriate courses for success
Conduct career and educational planning activities, including guidance on post-secondary pathways
Facilitate parent and caregiver workshops on topics such as mental health, academic success, and post-secondary planning
Support school-wide initiatives and serve as a key member of the building leadership team
Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to school counseling, trauma-informed practices, and equity-focused student support
Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Frequent standing, walking, and speaking, with occasional bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
The position requires multitasking, collaboration, and direct interaction with students, staff, and families in a moderate-to-loud school environment.
