Job Summary
The Server/Beverage Cart Attendants are responsible for greeting and serving food and/or beverages to patrons as well as providing on-course food and beverage service to golfers in accordance with established customer service procedures/standards. The full wage range for tipped positions is $9.00-$13.50. The hiring range for this season is list at later in this job posting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily and demonstrate the District’s core competencies consisting of financial accountability, integrity/ethics, job knowledge, policies & procedures compliance, work quality, risk management/safety, District/Department vision and values, adaptability/flexibility, dependability, teamwork, interpersonal skills, and productivity.
Essential Duties
o Provide immediate attention to all members/guests upon seating, greet warmly, distribute menus and take food and beverage orders.
o Turn orders into kitchen; inform cooks about any special cooking instructions.
o Serve meal; place dishes by courses in front of each person; serve from left of the person.
o Check back to ensure member/guest satisfaction; replenish beverages as necessary.
o Remove dirty dishes as guests finish.
o Suggest and serve dessert, coffee, and after meal drinks.
o Verify accuracy of prices, taxes, tips and other charges on all checks and present bill to guests.
o Handle all cash, credit cards and member charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
o Keep tables, bar, dining rooms and work stations clean and tidy.
o Perform side work, clean-up and closing duties as assigned.
o Requisition beverage cart supplies from storerooms, and ensure proper transfer and storage.
o Check fuel and oil levels in beverage cart prior to use to ensure that beverage cart is operating properly. Report malfunctions to supervisor as appropriate
o Wash beverage cart daily to ensure beverage cart maintains a clean, presentable appearance for our members/guests.
o Assist in the set-up and break down of special functions and catered events.
o Must adhere to all Park District and Village Greens safety policies and guidelines.
o Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Customer Service
o Understand Village Greens products and services.
o Handle service problems politely and efficiently while following established procedures.
o Be available for customers and enforce golf course procedures in a professional manner.
Appearance
o Wear proper uniform including name tag.
Cooperation & Attitude
o Comply with applicable health, alcoholic beverage and other laws/requirements.
o Ensure that required income, cost control and inventory procedures are consistently used.
o Display a positive attitude and work as part of the food and beverage team.
Communication
o Advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
o Turn in signed beverage cart reconciliation form weekly (where applicable).
o Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required reports.
o Communicate well with customers, staff, members, and management.
o Use appropriate time keeping method/system to accurately record time worked in accordance with policy/procedure. Sign and timely submit time card to Food & Beverage Manager.
Cash Handling
o Ensure sales are properly recorded.
o Ensure cash drawer/bank is balanced accurately.
o Ensure daily cash drop is done accurately.
Pay Range
o $11.00 per hour plus tips, starting wage
o $11.00 - 12.00 per hour plus tips - pay range

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the competencies listed above in addition to the following:
- Minimum of one (1) year of serving experience preferred.
- Experience in the restaurant industry preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to use two-way radio for communication as well.
- Ability to visually inspect all work areas, golf course and grounds
- Ability to see players on the golf course, and to follow the flight of golf balls
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to retrieve, read, and interpret information from technological resources.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively perform and prioritize job responsibilities.
- Ability to effectively adjust to stressful situations.
- Ability to work effectively with the general public, cooperating agencies, businesses, organizations, civic groups, and park district employees.
- Ability to read, understand, remember, and interpret routine documents such as safety rules as well as communicate information therein.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondences and to speak effectively before groups of participants or employees of the organization.
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to identify and respond quickly to emergency situations.
- Ability to effectively problem solve and adapt to change.
Education & Training
- Minimum of a High School diploma or GED preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver’s license is required for driving beverage cart.
