Salary: Starting at $55000 / depending on education / experience
Job Summary
Responsible for the operations of benefits programs including group health, dental, vision short-term and long-term disability, life insurance critical illness, and accident insurance along with the 403(b) plan. Provides excellent customer service both with organization and to outside vendors
- Consult with employees regarding eligibility, coverage, and other matters related to Woods’ insurance and 403(b) plans.
- Verifies employee eligibility and enrollment data is completed accurately as per carrier requirements.
- Processes enrollment applications to various medical and dental carriers at employee’s eligibility including Open Enrollment period. Maintain benefits enrollment including effective dates, employee coverage, dependent information, premiums and payroll deductions on the human resources information system (HRIS). Generate and distribute benefits confirmation statements to employees from HRIS.
- Verifies employee coverage with carriers via monthly premium invoices which includes auditing and reconciling invoices for credits and debits due to employee enrollment additions, changes, and terminations. Direct Accounting Department to process monthly premium payments to carriers on a timely basis.
- Serves as point of contact for employees with benefit related questions and concerns
- Possesses a strong knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and remains current with the law and requirements. Responsible for the yearly reporting for the ACA forms and ensures the accuracy and timely filing.
- Determines COBRA eligibility for employees based on qualifying events such as termination, change in employment status, loss of dependent status, divorce, death, etc. Generate and send COBRA reports to Third Party Administrator (TPA) in order for COBRA notifications to be sent to employees and their dependents (if applicable). Process COBRA enrollments and terminations with carriers.
- Presents Benefits overview at new hire orientation, which includes fielding questions and monitoring return of required employee sign-off documents.
- Develops communication tools to enhance understanding of Woods’ benefits package. Design and distribute materials for benefits orientation and open enrollment.
- Administers the renewal and open enrollment process on a yearly basis. Ensures that all plan changes are communicated to all Woods employees and coordinates the Health Fairs.
- Administer the 403(b) plan. This includes assisting employees with initial enrollment, adjusting payroll deductions, and ensuring contributions are submitted correctly on a bi-weekly basis.
- Other duties as assigned or become necessary
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related business field
Experience with benefits administration preferred
Strong knowledge of laws and regulations governing benefits administration and employee benefits (ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPPAA) required
Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, diagnose and resolve problems
Demonstrated ability to prioritize critical customer issues and trends
Excellent organizational skills
Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
Ability to deal with people in a professional and pleasant manner in a busy atmosphere
Demonstrated attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
Computer literacy is required
A Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) a plus
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
