The Priory School seeks a dynamic Campus Minister and Theology teacher who is an engaged and contributing member of two departments that operate under a collaborative, shared ministry model with passion and good zeal. Using our five Benedictine values as a guide, they develop authentic relationships with students in order to advance our mission in a way that centers student voice and provides stability through change. This role offers a unique and integrative opportunity to reimagine St. Benedict’s 6th-century teaching in 21st-century Silicon Valley. They collaborate with the offices of DEI, Wellness, the Benedictine Scholars Program, Residential Life, and Student Life in order to serve wider school efforts and respond in times of communal or global need.

Duties and Responsibilities
CAMPUS MINISTER (60%)
A Campus Minister at Priory is an engaged and contributing member of a team that operates under a collaborative, shared ministry model. In partnership with the monastic community, they work together with the other Campus Ministers to dialogue, discern, and deliver key program offerings through retreats, chapels and liturgies, service and justice, and adult spirituality. Campus Ministers each serve as a point person for various programs throughout the year. The Campus Ministry portion of this job reports to the Director of Campus Ministry. They are expected to:
- Coordinate within the shared ministry model of the team multiple program areas including retreats, liturgies, and service & justice experiences which all require strategic planning, budget management, coordination of student and adult leaders (in some cases), and assessment efforts. The point-person role for each program will be determined in the spring semester of the previous academic year using a planning process that spreads the responsibilities of all program offerings across the team throughout the year in a way that is sustainable (with teaching loads taken into consideration).
- Provide consultation to the Director around emergent issues and long-term vision efforts for the Department.
- Work collaboratively as an integral member of the Campus Ministry team to provide pastoral care to students and colleagues.
- Implement the Department’s assessment efforts for program areas being coordinated.
- Cultivate and enliven the Benedictine value of hospitality through a regular ministry of presence and programming.
- Engage in active formation in the Benedictine tradition, spirituality and identity in partnership with the Priory monastic community and national and global Benedictine network.
- Other duties as assigned.
THEOLOGY (40%)
Reporting to the Theology Department Chair this position is responsible for teaching 2 sections in the Theology Department, including one section of 6th grade Theology. A successful candidate in this teaching position will:

- Exhibit a passion for content knowledge and a range of effective pedagogical approaches.
- Demonstrate commitment to equitable and culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Work collaboratively and regularly with colleagues to develop innovative and meaningful curriculum and programming.
- Integrate technology in effective ways that enhance students’ learning experiences and growth.
- Take advantage of opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and community building.
- Serve as an advisor who is committed to the social and emotional development of students.
- Bring unique skills to contribute to our multifaceted community outside of the classroom (e.g. coaching, moderating a club or Affinity/Alliance group, leading a global trip, speaking multiple languages, etc).
- Teach students from both the upper school and the middle school with competence, confidence and compassion.
- Be highly organized and flexible in both curriculum development and classroom management.
Qualifications
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant Field
- Ability to make significant contributions to the larger life of the school
- Preferred: Master’s Degree
- Preferred: Three years in a Campus Ministry position
- Preferred: Three years of teaching experience
