POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Gymnastics Director and in accordance with the policies of the WOODSON YMCA, the Gymnastics Coach & Assistant Program Director plays a key leadership role in the development and execution of the gymnastics program. This position both coaches’ athletes of various skill levels and assists with the overall management of the gymnastics program. This individual will work closely with the Gymnastics Director and staff to enhance program quality, athlete development, and ensure alignment with the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

COACHING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•    Lead and coach gymnastics programs for a variety of age groups and skill levels across the program.
•    Develop and implement age-appropriate, skill-building gymnastics curriculum and training plans that promote progression, safety and athlete well-being.
•    Design and implement age and level appropriate strength and conditioning programs to support athlete performance, injury prevention and overall physical development. 
•    Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes by adhering to safety guidelines, providing clear instructions, and monitoring students during practices.
•    Offer personalized feedback and coaching to help each gymnast develop their skills and achieve their goals.
•    Attend and support athletes at competitions, as assigned by the Gymnastics Director, and assist in preparing gymnasts for meets and events.
•    Maintain open communication with gymnasts, parents, and staff to ensure a positive training environment.
•    Maintain gym equipment and training facilities to ensure a safe and efficient training environment.

ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•    Assist the Gymnastics Director in the overall management and administration of the gymnastics program from preschool and developmental programs to competitive team levels.
•    Assist with scheduling for all classes, camps, and team practices across all age groups and skill levels.
•    Help plan and organize program events, including competitions, showcases, and other special events.
•    Under the direction of the Gymnastics Director, support the recruitment of new athletes and assist in promoting the program through local events, social media, and community outreach.
•    Ensure the program is operating in compliance with all governing body regulations, including WI YMCA Gymnastics and USA Gymnastics and best practices.
•    Provide administrative support, including, but not limited to, managing athlete rosters, scheduling training sessions, and communicating with parents.
•    Assist in the training and management of assistant coaches and staff members. 
•    Handle day-to-day operations, including maintaining a positive and supportive environment for athletes, parents, and staff.
 

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Minimum of 2 years of experience coaching gymnastics at a competitive or recreational level.
•    Previous experience in program management, administration, or leadership roles is a plus.
•    USAG Competitive Coaching Membership, Certificates in Safe Sport, and USAG Safety & Risk Management within a designated time frame.
•    First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required or must be obtained within a designated time frame.
•    Strong knowledge of gymnastics techniques, drills, and safety practices. Including USA Gymnastics Programs (Jr Olympic Compulsory and Optional Code of Points) as well as strength and conditioning principles related to gymnastics.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to motivate and inspire athletes of varying abilities.
•    Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and athletes.
•    Organizational skills to assist with program administration and event planning.
•    Passion for gymnastics and youth development.
•    Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by training schedules and competitions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  
•    The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, and walk for periods of time as well as bend, reach, and must be able to move around the work environment. 
•    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. 
•    The employee must be able to properly demonstrate movements with safe and effective ranges of motion.
•    Will be required to stoop and spot gymnastics skills.

•    May be required to travel for gymnastic meets and competitions.

Salary : $38,000 - $40,000
