Coordinator, Environmental Services
MAIN FUNCTION:
Assists the Director and Manager of Environmental Services in maintaining a high-quality standard of housekeeping to ensure the health and safety of patients and employees. This is achieved by informing department leadership updates regarding the immediate condition of all assigned areas including off-site facilities such as Health Point, Eagle Pass Bldg.,Beall Professional Bldg., and the Milltown Professional Building. The coordinator assists with employee training, off shift supervision, and motivating the housekeeping and linen personnel to complete all assigned areas and duties in a timely and accurate manner. Also runs and completes testing of Autoclave system, ordering of supplies and maintaining stock.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, Environmental Services MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance of floor care equipment
- Strong customer service & interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well independently
- If an internal candidate, no written disciplinary action in prior 12 months
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
- Hospital experience.
- Personal computer experience including Microsoft Excel and keyboard skills.
- Ability to work well independently
- Works well under pressure and able to meet competing needs
- Knowledge of floor care products & programs
- Denotes ADA Essential
- Follows Appropriate Service Standards
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- Performs quality control inspections.
- Has a basic understanding of the area and controls all supplies, and equipment used in the Department
- Continuously checks assigned areas to be sure work is being done and personnel are following schedules.
- Reports all pertinent information to the Director/ Manager of Environmental Services.
- Understand schedule of required tasks for all assigned areas and provides feedback on how to improve.
- Conducts daily staff huddles to ensure employees are up to date and prepared for their shifts
- Performs routine patient, staff and nurse rounding.
- Answers phone with cheerful enthusiasm and handles all requests with a sense of urgency.
- Instills a positive service-minded attitude and feeling of pride in a job well done in the Environmental Services staff by demonstrating a personal enthusiasm and team spirit.
- Trains and retrains housekeeping personnel.
- Arranges for adequate coverage of all areas by using personnel efficiently.
- Assumes responsibility of Department in the absence of the Manager.
- Maintains good public relations with all patients and staff.
- Prepares daily supervisor reports discussing activities and projects with the Manager.
- Observes cleaning needs throughout the facility and submits written project requests to the Manager indicating project completion or to be done.
- Willfully enters activities and special events.
- Maintains a high standard of personal appearance among housekeeping staff.
- Inspects equipment daily to maintain clean condition and good repair.
- Maintains close control on supply distribution and usage noting inventory needs to the Manager.
- Orders and ensures that supplies are transported to off-site facilities as necessary daily.
- Prepares administrative paperwork, including staff evaluations, as necessary, in a timely manner.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Adjusts to fluctuations in scheduling based on organizational needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
