Job Overview :
To manage, plan, and promote studio class programs and oversee the educational standards, resources, systems, and spaces of the Museum’s Higgins Education Wing, helping engage and expand the Museum’s audiences in support of its mission, vision, and values.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Plan and oversee a sustainable, mission-oriented, and high-quality studio arts program of more than 300 one-time and multi-week youth, teen, and adult studio classes that serve over 1,500 students annually.
- Recruit, develop, and manage the Studio Programs department team, including 2-4 full-time office staff and approximately 50 per diem teaching faculty.
- Develop, manage, and monitor a departmental budget averaging $420,000 a year.
- Supervise the development, schedule, and facilitation of approximately 8 short-term, community and student exhibitions per year.
- Supervise the Studio Programs Administrator in overseeing a robust scholarship program, including cultivating a scholarship referral network; producing progress reports; and evaluating participation.
- Implement and maintain an ongoing system of quantitative and qualitative evaluation and documentation of studio programs and exhibitions. Analyze past programs and participation while strategizing and recommending effective programs to grow audiences.
- Work with the Database Administrator and Technology Strategist to guide the Studio Programs department’s use of the customer resource management database.
- Assist in the development of advertising plans and branding for class programs, monitor and evaluate online and print marketing efforts, and manage the production of class brochures and Constant Contact email blasts.
- Work with the Director of Learning & Engagement and the Office of Advancement to write proposals that support grants and other educational funding opportunities.
- Connect with area art teachers and educators; participate in and represent the Museum at regional dialogues about arts education and museums; serve on educational committees, boards, and community groups where appropriate; keep informed about best practices in art education, educational pedagogy, and other relevant areas of museum education.
- Assist in the development and implementation of cross-departmental programming, including, but not limited to, exhibitions and collections.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
