Onsite/Hybrid/Remote: Hybrid or remote depending on your proximity to our Raleigh office.

We are seeking a strategic and self-driven Business Development Strategist to identify, engage, and qualify senior leaders and decision-makers at potential client organizations. This role requires a creative approach to cold outreach, strong business acumen, and the ability to build relationships with executive-level contacts. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking calculated risks, demonstrates initiative, and possesses the strategic mindset to navigate complex business environments.

- Strategic Prospecting: Develop innovative approaches to identify high-potential prospects and decision-makers within target industries, using advanced research methods and creative outreach strategies.
- Executive Engagement: Confidently approach and engage C-suite and senior leadership through personalized cold outreach via phone, email, and LinkedIn.
- Lead Qualification & Strategy: Apply strong business acumen to qualify prospects, assess organizational challenges, and position WPO solutions as strategic investments for potential clients.
- Risk-Taking & Innovation: Test new outreach methods, messaging approaches, and targeting strategies to continuously improve conversion rates and quality of leads.
- Relationship Development: Build and nurture relationships with senior stakeholders through thoughtful follow-up and value-added communications.
- Strategic Pipeline Management: Analyze prospect engagement patterns and qualify opportunities based on both immediate and long-term potential.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to share market insights and contribute to overall business development strategy.
- Business Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market shifts to identify emerging opportunities and recommend strategic pivots.
- KPI Achievement: Consistently meet or exceed targets for qualified opportunities, discovery meetings, and pipeline value.
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated success in B2B business development, strategic sales, or account development roles.
- Executive Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior executives and C-suite decision-makers.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze business challenges and position solutions as strategic investments rather than expenses.
- Self-Direction & Initiative: Highly motivated self-starter who thrives with autonomy while achieving measurable results.
- Creative Problem-Solving: Innovative approach to overcoming objections and navigating complex buying environments.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business operations, decision-making processes, and financial considerations across various industries.
- Comfort with Ambiguity: Ability to navigate uncertain situations and make decisions with limited information.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar), social selling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Resilience & Adaptability: Comfortable with taking calculated risks and learning from both successes and setbacks.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in EAP, healthcare, insurance, or HR-related industries preferred but not essential.
