The Role

The purpose of the Senior Accountant role is to assist in the organization’s accounting functions. These functions include following WR’s, practices, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. This is a very transactional accounting position responsible for all facets of general accounting. This includes month-end and year-end close, financial statement preparation, review of accounts payable, assistance in collections, sales and use tax, and assisting with the annual budget and review of the financial statements.

What You Will Do

~ Essential Job Responsibilities

• Compiles and analyzes information to prepare and record journal entries
• Conducts month-end closing
• Complete various bank reconciliations
• Compiles and analyzes financial statements meeting reporting deadlines
• Manages sales tax and exemption certificates
• Maintains and reconciles fixed assets and related schedules including depreciation and amortization
• Provides various financial reports to multiple levels of management
• Prepares and reviews schedules for external auditors, provides supporting documentation
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

The Qualifications and/or Experience

The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree (B. A. or B. S.) from an accredited college or university in accounting. At least 4-7 years of progressive experience in all areas or accounting. Strong knowledge of GAAP required.

• Be self-motivated and passionate about your work in a fast-based environment
• Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices
• Proficiency in account reconciliation and analysis
• Experience with accounting software
• Have high attention to detail and diligence about producing high-quality work
• Knowledge of sales and use tax laws and other related accounting laws/procedures as well as government regulations
• Possess critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Ability to build and sustain productive working relationships across a diverse spectrum of people.
• Commits time and effort to ensure success by setting job as a priority and implementing strategies to ensure success.
• Demonstrates integrity and trust by acting ethically and gaining the trust and respect of others

Work Environment and Physical/Mental Demands

The position requires working typically in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as office phone/smartphone, computer/laptop/computer, keyboard/mouse, photocopiers, filing cabinets and printers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to visit and move around at construction and other customer/work sites, wearing appropriate safety protective gear. Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 10 lbs. and that may occasionally weigh in excess of 25 lbs. Ability to work with numbers, research complex issues and resolve problems. Requires more advanced mathematical skills in order to understand spatial requirements and in doing bids. Must be able to read and comprehend complex written material, as well as ability to analyze, compare, evaluate, reconcile, and order data.

Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
