Description

The Role

The purpose of the Warehouse Coordinator is to maintain the day to day administrative and physical tasks of the warehouse by receiving, inventorying, locating, pulling, staging, and loading furniture/ related products. Coordinators carry out the defined and documented processes which include management of external and internal customer information within technology-enabled tools intended specifically for use in the office furniture industry to manage assets and storage. This role requires strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail while demonstrating the ability to collaborate with others.

 

What You Will Do

~ Essential Job Responsibilities

 

  • Perform various product receiving and locating responsibilities including working with subcontracted labor:
  • Physically unloading, sorting and palletizing furniture and related products.
  • Checking receipt of furniture and related products against the packing list/product list/product activity.
  • Checking all furniture and related products and packaging for any signs of damage.
  • Noting any discrepancies in the shipper’s Bill of Lading.
  • Notifying the work team as well as the Warehouse Lead and/or Distribution Manager of any discrepancies.
  • Finding and placing palletized furniture and related products in the appropriate location.
  • Perform and complete tasks related to the long-term storage such as separating, inventory recording, racking, and pulling of product utilizing software. Reporting to external and internal customers discrepancies, and current inventory(s).
  • Manage the inventory and organization of return products and related customer assets.
  • Track and input received WIP & LTS inventories on a handwritten form and/or electronically.
  • Ability to create and set up daily pulls and/or inventory reports using Workplace Resource digital platforms.
  • Perform various pulling and staging responsibilities:
  • Move the furniture and related products from its location to the appropriate staging area.
  • Check all furniture and related products against the packing list / product list.
  • Maintain a record of Workplace Resource owned equipment and supplies (panel carts, flat dollies, machine carts, totes, etc.) with both a hard copy and digital.
  • Establish and maintain the data in the asset/inventory management system on a daily basis to ensure customer assets are correct, including data entry, deletion, and operational control.
  • Set up and prep RGA and customer requested shipments by printing off Bill of Ladings and understanding the basic shipping concepts as it pertains to LTL and dedicated loads.
  • Operate all equipment, as well as train on equipment (stand-up hi-los, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.) in a safe manner, ensuring that equipment is kept clean and free of debris.
  • Maintain truck maintenance schedule and coordinate with the Warehouse Lead to schedule trucks for maintenance.
  • Maintain & record equipment checked out to Installers/Movers.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area, free from excess debris on floors, racks, and outside dock areas.
  • Properly record receipt of furniture and related products inventory for accurate data entry into the operating system.
  • Maintains solid business relationships by communicating, problem-solving and following up on regular basis with internal partners and customers to their satisfaction.  
  • Understand and support the receiving process to ensure warehouse processes are executed, combining the Kham/IQ procedures to ensure efficient and accurate inventory management.
  • Provide support for MKPS initiatives, problem solving, special projects and continuous improvement of logistics operation.

 

 

~Qualifications and/or Experience

 

The preferred candidate will hold a high school diploma or minimum of 2-3 years working in a similar position preferably within the office furniture industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  • Working in a similar position within the office furniture industry or facilities,
  • Technical, functional, professional expertise in warehouse procedures and techniques and asset inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures associated with supporting a warehouse.
  • Detailed knowledge of inventory software; spreadsheet software and word processing software using a computer.
  • Ability to use a forklift and order picking equipment and be able to pass certification testing (training will be provided if needed).
  • Physical ability to load and unload boxes with a weight no more than 50 pounds individually or 100 pounds team lift as well as climb stairs, be on feet majority of the day, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling furniture and related products.

  • Must be available to work irregular hours, including changes to daily start time and extended shifts that will be determined by the Distribution Manager.

  • Ability to pass a drug screening.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical/lift test (if applicable)

 

~Work Environment and Physical/Mental Demands

 

The position requires working typically in a professional office environment, including some time in the field, such as traveling to various client locations within Colorado. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as office phone/smartphone, computer/laptop/computer keyboard/mouse, photocopiers, filing cabinets and printers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to visit and move around at construction and other customer/work sites, wearing appropriate safety protective gear. Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 10 lbs. and that may occasionally weigh in excess of 25 lbs. Ability to work with numbers, research complex issues and resolve problems. Requires more advanced mathematical skills in order to understand spatial requirements and in doing bids. Must be able to read and comprehend complex written material, as well as ability to analyze, compare, evaluate, reconcile, and order data.

  • Working in a similar position within the industry or related field.
  • Achieving and maintaining technical and professional proficiency relating to office furniture and product knowledge, shipping and receiving processes and procedures, inventory management, and fork lift operations.
  • Ability to use a fork lift and order picking equipment (certification will be provided).
  • Physical ability to load and unload boxes with a weight no more than 50 pounds individually or 100 pounds team lift as well as climb stairs, be on feet majority of the day, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling furniture and related products.

  • Must have a current drivers license with a good driving record, as well as be able to operate a company vehicle within a 150-mile radius of Workplace Resource and can pass drug screen.
  • Must be available to work irregular hours, including changes to daily start time and extended shifts that will be determined by the Warehouse Lead and/or Warehouse Manager.
  • Able to accomplish desired results as well as contribute to a team effort.

EDUCATION, FORMAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; three to six months related experience and/or training, including warehouse duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Forklift or other product moving equipment as well as basic hand and power tools
  • Proficient use of personal computer in a Windows based environment
  • IPAD or tablet

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMAMDS/ MENTAL ABILITIES:

Working environment Mainly working indoors. Must be willing and prepared to work in all kinds of weather when loading or unloading product. Environment may be dusty and dirty. Hazards include working around forklifts and occasional exposure to caustic or toxic chemicals. Must be able to travel to various customer work sites and to companys remote sites. Physical demands Work is rated as heavy. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, bend, stoop, twist, and to operate a forklift. On feet majority of the day, walking, etc. Must have good upper body strength to lift continuously 50 lbs. Visual acuity is a combination of near, far, depth perception, color vision and general field of visions. Fine motor skills to handle use of small hand tools. Mental abilities Specialized knowledge in the area of warehousing and construction. Ability to problem-solve, and speak English to communicate with the customers and employees. Basic math skills to do measurements and some calculation of numbers. Ability to write simple communications.
