This role will be a key partner to leadership and employees alike, overseeing a broad range of HR functions while supporting a unionized workforce. Key Responsibilities:
HR Generalist Responsibilities:
- Lead and support all core HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, benefits, compensation, training, and compliance.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on employee relations issues, performance improvement plans, and talent development.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are up to date, legally compliant, and aligned with business needs.
- Manage HRIS systems and maintain accurate employee records and reports.
- Collaborate on company-wide HR initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Champion employee engagement, DEI, and culture-building programs.
Labor Union Responsibilities:
- Serve as the HR point of contact for union-related matters, supporting day-to-day labor relations.
- Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
- Participate in grievance and disciplinary processes, ensuring compliance with contract terms and labor laws.
- Support or lead labor negotiations, working closely with legal counsel and company leadership.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with union representatives and shop stewards.
- Stay current on labor laws, trends, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (Master’s or MBA a plus).
- 5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, including 2 years working with labor unions or in a unionized environment.
- Strong understanding of employment laws, labor relations, and HR compliance.
- Proven ability to manage HR functions across the employee lifecycle.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Experience with HRIS platforms and data reporting.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
