Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between hearing and deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. Responsibilities
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals during meetings, appointments, and events.
- Translate ASL back into spoken language for hearing individuals, ensuring accurate communication.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting scenarios.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their specific communication needs and preferences.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in linguistics and sign language interpreting techniques.
- Provide support in various environments, including classrooms, hospitals, and community events.
- Facilitate clear communication by adapting interpreting style to suit the context and audience.
Skills
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required; additional languages are a plus (bilingual candidates preferred).
